Our story

They should not have to fight their tools too

Every day, millions of people give their working lives to problems most of us look away from. Givelayer exists so the infrastructure underneath them is not one more thing to fight.

    The reality

The problems are enormous. The people solving them should not be fighting their tools as well.

Across every continent, charities, churches, food banks, shelters and nonprofits are doing the hardest work there is. They are feeding families, housing the displaced, funding research, supporting survivors and holding communities together, often on tools that take more than they give.

    • 150M+

people worldwide are homeless on any given night

    • 828M

people go to bed hungry every single day

    • 10M

lives lost to cancer each year, globally

    • 55M

people living with Alzheimer's and dementia

Figures published by the United Nations, the World Health Organization and Alzheimer’s Disease International. Rounded, and current at the time of writing.

Behind every one of those numbers is an organisation that is underfunded, overstretched, and losing a share of every dollar it raises to a platform built for commerce rather than compassion.

    Our origin

    A lost wallet, a stranger’s kindness, a mission.

Years ago, I landed in Newcastle to start my Master’s degree. It was the first time I had ever left my home country, and within twenty-four hours, I lost everything. My wallet, my passport, and every cent I had brought to start my new life.

I was a new immigrant, thousands of miles from home, hungry and completely alone.

Someone told me about a local food bank. I remember standing in that queue, bracing myself for the stigma of asking for help. Instead, I walked into a room where volunteers handed me a box of groceries that lasted two weeks. There was no judgment, just quiet dignity from people I had never met.

That box didn’t just feed me. It changed how I saw the world.

I started noticing the “angels” everywhere: the local charities feeding the hungry, the shelters keeping people alive through winter, the nonprofits funding medical research one dollar at a time. Behind every one of those efforts is someone choosing compassion over convenience.

“And I kept asking the same question: why do the people doing the most good in our communities have the worst tools?”

    Givelayer is our answer.

We believe that technology should be a bridge to generosity, not a tax on it. That’s why we’ve built a model that rewards impact. We offer our platform for free, giving donors the choice to support our work with a small tip.

When a donor tips Givelayer, we give back: we cover the platform and processing fees so your organization receives 100% of the donation.

We do this because the stranger who handed me that box of food in Newcastle didn’t ask for a cut of my survival. And as long as your donors help us keep the lights on, we won’t ask for a cut of yours either.

    Who we serve

We exist to empower the people who empower others.

    • The small-town church running donations on a spreadsheet

Digital in about two minutes. Sunday evenings for rest, not for receipts.

    • The food bank losing a share of every gift to platform fees

Keep more of every dollar, and turn the difference into meals.

    • The research foundation where every donation is counted

Instant receipts and transparent tracking, so donors give with confidence.

    • The nonprofit that wants supporters on every continent

Accept gifts worldwide from one link, and look world-class doing it.

    • The parent association facing tax season

Automated IRS-compliant receipts, so volunteers are not buried in paperwork.

    • The shelter that cannot spare an hour on admin

Donation to receipt in under a minute, without anyone touching it.

    • A volunteer handing packaged food to a group of children gathered around a table.

    What we believe

Four things, and we build against them.

    • Generosity should not carry a tax

A three-person food bank should have the same quality of donation infrastructure as a billion-dollar enterprise. Modern, fast and reliable, regardless of budget.

    • Team size should not decide software quality

Whether you are a volunteer-run shelter or a national charity, you deserve the polished, donor-ready experience the world's largest organisations take for granted.

    • A cause deserves to spread

When someone shares the thing they care about, the giving experience should match the feeling that made them share it. One link, one tap.

    • Transparency is what builds trust

Donors give more when they can see where the money went. Every Givelayer receipt shows exactly what happened: every dollar, every fee, every cent.

    Built in Calgary, for everywhere.

Givelayer Technologies Inc. is a federally incorporated Canadian company under the Canada Business Corporations Act, currently in the process of registering with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business.
